Swallow Therapy
We offer specialized therapy for dysphagia, or difficulty swallowing, that may result from stroke, traumatic brain injury or other condition.

Swallow with Confidence
If you have ongoing trouble swallowing, it could be a serious issue that needs treatment. A speech-language pathologist can help improve your ability to swallow safely through therapy.
Who Can Benefit
Dysphagia often accompanies conditions like:
- Stroke
- Traumatic brain injury
- Cerebral palsy
- Multiple sclerosis
- Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS)
- Aging swallow
- Swallow recovery after surgery
- Throat trauma
- Mouth or throat cancer
- Degenerative and muscular conditions
Treatment Techniques
VitalStim Plus Electrotherapy and sEMG
VitalStim PlusTherapy uses a specialized neuromuscular electrical stimulation system and surface electrodes to stimulate swallowing muscles. A sEMG Biofeedback System projects live treatment progress onto a screen for patient interaction.
McNeal Dysphagia Therapy (MDTP)
MDTP was developed to improve muscle performance and recovery of swallow. It is an approach to dysphagia that uses actual swallowing to facilitate a normal swallow pattern and assist with return to a regular diet without restrictions.
Referrals
You will need referral from your health care provider for swallow therapy.
