Employer & Commercial Insurance Plans

What is commercial insurance?
Insurance that isn’t provided by a government program is considered commercial insurance. This includes plans through your employer or purchased through an agent or the federal marketplace.
For many people, health insurance is obtained through an employer. Since employers typically cover at least a portion of the cost, this is often a cost-effective way for employees to obtain health coverage.
Some companies are self-insured and use commercial insurers as third-party administrators, using their networks and resources to operate their health plans.
Self-employed individuals and small business owners often purchase their own plans directly from insurers.
Currently, North Mississippi Health Services participates in these commercial health plans that provide employer-based insurance as well as individually purchased policies:
Some employer-based insurance and individually purchased plans use preferred provider organizations (PPO) to form networks for their members. NMHS currently participates in Health Link .
Federal Marketplace at HealthCare.gov
Most adults under the age of 65 access health insurance through their employers, but some people need to purchase their own health insurance. Through HealthCare.gov, private insurers offer health insurance plans that meet Affordable Care Act requirements. Consumers who do not have access to employer-based insurance and meet income guidelines can use subsidies and tax credits to cover premiums.
Special annual enrollment periods apply.
In Mississippi, three insurers offer plans on the federal exchange. North Mississippi Health Services is a provider for all three plans offered in Mississippi.

Please Note
NMHS' participation with any product or insurance plan is subject to change without notice. Additionally, insurance companies offer a variety of plans and may change the names and benefits at any point. Your level of coverage depends on the specific benefits outlined in your level of coverage and your plan. To ensure that NMHS and its providers are in-network, it is your responsibility to verify that NMHS is a participating provider and your benefit plan allows you access as of the day of a visit and/or admission. Please contact your insurance plan to obtain this information.
Your NMHS patient access specialist (PAS) can help answer questions about insurance and communicate with your insurance company. In most cases, you will be able to connect with a PAS at the hospital, clinic or facility where you are receiving care.
