Billing & Insurance

Paying for care at NMHS
We understand that insurance and medical bills can be stressful and hard to understand. We’re here to help you make sense of your costs and take the stress out of managing your care.
Understanding Your Bill
After visiting an NMHS hospital or clinic, you will likely receive a bill for the services you received. This bill will detail the original cost of your care, how much your health insurance paid (if you have insurance and the service is covered) and how much you owe after insurance. You have the right to request an itemized statement and to dispute any charges that you think are incorrect.
As a patient, you can take these steps to help avoid large surprise bills:
- Check with your insurance company to make sure that your doctor and hospital or clinic are in your network.
- Learn more about your insurance plan, such as your deductible and expected out-of-pocket costs.
- When scheduling care, ask who all will be involved in your care so you can make sure all providers are in your network.
If you are uninsured, you may qualify for a discount to reduce the cost of your care. You may also apply for financial assistance if you qualify.
You can use our Price Estimate Tool or call (662) 377-4211 to get an estimate of what a service or procedure might cost before you receive treatment.

Know Your Network
Many insurance plans have specific networks of hospitals, clinics and health care providers they encourage their members to use. These managed care plans – sometimes called an HMO, PPO or POS – may cover your treatment at NMHS. Before scheduling an initial appointment, please contact your health plan/insurance company and ask if you have access to health care services at NMHS.
Some benefit plans utilize what is referred to as "narrow" or "limited" networks; that is, they further narrow or limit the choices of doctors and hospitals that their customers can use. These networks may exclude NMHS. Additionally, some plans, such as HMOs, have primary care physician referral and/or other authorization guidelines.
If NMHS is not a participating provider, you may still be able to receive treatment here. Contact your insurance company and ask about obtaining authorization.
