Tobacco & Weapons Policies

Important Information for Patients & Visitors at NMHS Facilities
To protect the health and safety of our patients, visitors and employees, North Mississippi Health Services has policies around the use of tobacco products and weapons at our facilities.
Tobacco-Free Campus
All North Mississippi Health Services locations and grounds are tobacco-free. This is in effect for all NMHS facilities (owned, leased or rented). The policy, which went into effect July 8, 2008, applies to everyone on those premises, including employees, medical staff, volunteers, vendors, visitors and patients. The policy includes all tobacco products and e-cigarettes.
This policy reflects NMHS' dedication to the promotion of health and wellness.
Weapons Ban
North Mississippi Health Services prohibits the carrying of a gun or firearm at all NMHS locations. This policy provides a safe environment for our patients, visitors and health care providers.
Anyone who enters a facility with a weapon or firearm will be asked to leave the premises. If the individual is uncooperative, NMHS security officers or staff members will contact law enforcement officials.
This policy applies to all NMHS locations (including, but not limited to, hospitals, centers, clinics, nursing homes and wellness centers). Only on-duty law enforcement officers will be permitted to carry a firearm on NMHS premises.
