Reaching Your Child's Potential

Our therapists help children of all ages improve their:

  • Cognitive function

  • Communication skills

  • Social and emotional maturation

  • Self-help skills

  • Gross motor skills

  • Fine motor skills

Sensory Gym

Physical, occupational and speech therapists use NMMC’s Fun Factory sensory gym for sensory integration therapy.

Sensory integration refers to the brain’s ability to organize sensory information that comes from our surroundings. Individuals with Sensory Processing Disorder experience problems with their sense of touch, smell, sight, hearing and coordination.

Our gym is a safe environment where children can use their senses to explore without pressure. Sensory stimulation engages different areas of the brain and helps children develop self-confidence and skills to adapt to the world around them.

Featuring several types of swings, a zip line, overhead jungle gym, jump deck with a crash pad pit and ground level sensory “calming” area, our gym has a definite wow factor. Each part of the gym is designed to stimulate a child’s senses in effort to normalize his or her response to typical environments.

Therapy in a sensory gym can benefit children with a variety of diagnoses, including Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
