Breast Cancer Surgery
Robust breast cancer surgery options and an expert surgical team are key facets of our comprehensive breast cancer program at NMMC-Tupelo

Advanced Surgical Options for Breast Cancer
Surgery is the most common breast cancer treatment. Patients at NMMC have a wide range of surgical options and access to advanced oncoplastic techniques through our expert team.
Your surgical team will tailor recommendations for breast cancer surgery based on a number of factors including tumor size, cancer staging, your health, risk factors and personal preferences. General elements of breast cancer surgery include:
Sentinel node biopsy checks lymph nodes for signs the cancer has spread.
Breast conservation surgery, also called lumpectomy, removes part of the breast.
Mastectomy removes the entire affected breast.
Reconstruction surgery restores the form and function of the breast.
Oncoplastic Techniques
NMMC Breast and General Surgery Clinic offers oncoplastic breast surgery that combine the techniques of traditional breast cancer surgery with the cosmetic advantages of plastic surgery. The goal is to remove cancer while preserving the form and function of your breast.
