At Cancer Care, the Radiation Oncology team uses advanced imaging, treatment planning and equipment to deliver the most effective treatments while sparing healthy tissues and organs.
Radiation treatment uses carefully calibrated high energy beams to destroy cancer cells. It requires a highly trained team of health care professionals to plan and deliver care for cancer patients. Our team at NMMC Radiation Oncology includes:
Radiation oncologists: Specialized, board-certified physicians who lead our team
Nurse practitioner: Works in support of our physicians, available to patients.
Radiation oncology nurses: Registered nurses with experience in cancer care
Radiation therapists: Administer the prescribed radiation treatment
Medical dosimetrists: Work closely with your physician to plan your treatment.
Medical physicists: Validate the treatment plan and verifies the radiation dose.
Social worker: Provides support and access to resources to meet patient needs.
Registered dietitian: Available to address weight loss and other dietary needs.
