Pediatric Unit
North Mississippi Medical Center's pediatric unit, located on the first floor of NMMC-Tupelo, serves children through 18 years of age. The staff includes registered nurses who care for children with general childhood illnesses, as well as those recuperating from surgery. Respiratory Care services are available around the clock when needed.
Pediatricians in Amory, Eupora and West Point, Miss., and Hamilton, Ala., care for newborn babies and hospitalized children at NMMC hospitals in those locations.
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit is located on the second floor of NMMC-Tupelo. Pediatric Intensivists/Hospitalists, nurses and respiratory therapists make up the team caring for children with moderately complex medical conditions such as respiratory distress, asthma, sepsis, diabetic emergencies and pneumonia. They can provide various types of respiratory support including invasive and non-invasive ventilation.
Pediatric Hospitalists
University of Mississippi Medical Center provides pediatric hospitalist services 24 hours daily at NMMC-Tupelo. They consult with emergency physicians on pediatric patients in the Emergency Department and provide hospital care for children on the Pediatrics unit.
