What to Expect During Your First Visit to Outpatient Infusion
Please allow extra time for your first appointment to Outpatient Infusion. During your first visit:
- Medication orders & personal information must be entered.
- A pharmacist will check the orders for accuracy.
- Your medication is mixed at an onsite sterile facility.
- If lab work is needed, results may take up to an hour.
Depending on your treatment, it may take several hours to complete. We would like to make you as comfortable as possible during your visit. As many of our patients have compromised immune systems, we do have special rules in place.
Each patient has a recliner & personal TV with headphones.
Some snacks & drinks are available; you may also want to bring your own lunch.
You can also bring things to help pass the time like books or crossword puzzles.
Family members & visitors are welcome to wait in the reception area.
For the privacy of other patients, visitors should limit time in treatment room.
Visitors under 14 are not allowed.
Visitors who are sick are not allowed in treatment area.
The staff follows up with each patient to check on progress & treatment regimen.
The staff will share your progress with your doctor.
Outpatient services, like Outpatient Infusion, are billed through North Mississippi Health Services.
Insurance will be billed first.
You will receive a statement of charges.
After insurance has been billed & paid, you will receive a bill.
Payment can be made at NMMC Business Office, 1494 Cliff Gookin Blvd., in Tupelo.

It is the patient's responsibility to pre-certify if insurer requires it.
