If your doctor IV or infusion therapy, we can help you get the care you need. Outpatient infusion services are offered on all seven NMHS campuses around the region and Cancer Care clinics.

Administering the Medicines You Need

Some illnesses and medical conditions cannot be treated with oral medicines. IV or infusion therapy is giving medication through an IV. An IV uses a sterile catheter inserted into a vein and secured. Among the serious medical conditions that can be treated by IV medications are:

  • Serious & chronic infections

  • Cancer & pain related to cancer

  • Gastrointestinal or digestive tract conditions

  • Dehydration caused by nausea, vomiting & diarrhea

  • Osteoporosis

  • Anemia

Medications & Treatments

A number of medications and treatments can be delivered by infusion therapy:

  • Antibiotics

  • Immune globulin

  • Blood transfusions

  • Synagis® for prevention of RSV

  • Pain Management medications

  • Iron infusions

  • Xolair® for asthma & allergic reactions

  • Specialty pharmacy medications

Services

Outpatient infusion can also assist with:

  • Subcutaneous (SQ) & intramuscular (IM) injections

  • IV line care

  • Vascular access services for PICC & midline catheters

  • Management of infusion devices for intermittent & multiple dosing per day
