Off the Scales

Some benefits of weight loss are off the scales. Losing weight can benefit your health in many ways:

  • Reduces blood pressure, cholesterol & joint pain
  • Lowers risk for diabetes, heart disease, stroke & osteoarthritis
  • Enhances sleep quality & boosts energy Improves many other medical conditions

Let’s Be Clear

Perhaps you have lost weight before, but it was temporary. For many people, the weight always comes back.

More important than any tool for weight loss, it is important is to be clear on:

  • Why do you want to lose weight?
  • What would be measurably different and better in your life tomorrow if you woke up and you were at your ideal weight?

Losing weight could be the start of many great changes for you. But losing weight and keeping it off takes work.

You will hit obstacles. You’ll want to quit. You’ll be tempted to think it’s just not worth it.

That’s why it’s so important to have a clearly defined reason for putting in all the work to reach your goal.

What & Why?

People who are clear on their WHAT and WHY are the ones who succeed. They keep working despite wanting to give up.

  • What is your #1 goal?
    • Is it to lose 40 pounds?
    • Or 65 pounds?
    • Or 200 pounds?
  • Why do you want that goal?
    • Do you want to get off so much medication?
    • Do you want to be able to go on rides with your kids without worrying about the weight limit?
    • Do you want to fit in your favorite clothes again?
    • Do you want to be more self-confident?

Sharpen Your Why

Focusing your WHY around resolving health issues—and getting off the medications that accompany them—is a wonderful goal.

Get very specific about your WHY. For example, rather than “feel better about myself,” consider what you would do if you felt better about yourself. Would you wear different clothes? Would you stop volunteering to be the photographer and actually be in the photos? Do you want to be able to tie your shoes without holding your breath?

You deserve to look and feel great. Your strong WHY will translate into the commitment you need to complete this journey.
