Our care doesn’t end with your hospital discharge

NMHS has seven North Mississippi Medical Center hospitals to provide the care you need while admitted to the hospital. When it’s time for discharge, you may need additional care. Let us help.

Inpatient Care vs. Extended Care

Inpatient care refers to services received when you are admitted to the hospital and spend at least one night. You may have an inpatient stay to recover from a serious illness or injury or after a surgery or other procedure.

Sometimes, you may be discharged from the hospital, but your care team determines that you need additional care that you cannot receive at home, such as intensive physical therapy or 24-hour monitoring. In those situations, you may be referred to a skilled nursing facility, rehab facility or nursing home. These services are often called extended care facilities.
