Every Moment Matters with Hospice at NMHS

Hospice wraps care around terminally ill patients and their families, emphasizing management of pain and other symptoms and meeting psychological, emotional, social and spiritual needs.

Delivering Hospice Care Since 1984

At North Mississippi Health Services Hospice, our goal is to add quality to the time remaining for the terminally ill and their families.

When we began offering end-of-life care in patients’ homes across the region, North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice was the first hospice agency licensed in Mississippi in 1984. Most hospice care is still delivered in patients’ homes, but we also offer hospice services in personal care homes. Additionally, we have a the 16-bed inpatient hospice unit at NMMC-Tupelo, and hospice services are provided as needed at our hospitals in Amory, Eupora, Iuka, Pontotoc and West Point and at 14 area nursing homes.

To be eligible for hospice care:

  • Patients must have a life-limiting illness whose life expectancy is measured in weeks or months, not years.
  • Patients, with their physician and family, choose comfort care.
