Pregnancy & Birth

North Mississippi Medical Center hospitals in Tupelo, Amory and West Point provide expectant mothers and newborns with exceptional care during pregnancy and childbirth.

North Mississippi Medical Center Women's Hospital in Tupelo, NMMC Gilmore-Amory and NMMC-West Point have earned the highly prestigious international Baby-Friendly designation after a rigorous review process conducted by Baby-Friendly USA, the organization responsible for bestowing this certification in the United States.

This distinguished honor demonstrates that NMMC is adhering to the highest standards of care for breastfeeding mothers and their babies. These standards are built on the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding, a set of evidence-based practices recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) for optimal infant feeding support in the precious first days of a newborn’s life.

At NMMC, you will find the full spectrum of care from prenatal to post-partum care, including high-risk pregnancy care and neonatal intensive care.

Prenatal Care

Our obstetrician-gynecologists offer expert care starting in the earliest stages of pregnancy, with prenatal checkups and other services you may need.

High-Risk Pregnancy Care

When a pregnancy is potentially high risk because of age or pre-existing medical conditions, both mother and child need a special kind of care. Maternal Fetal Medicine is available at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo and NMMC Gilmore-Amory. Our goal is to help high risk mothers prepare for healthier births.

Labor & Delivery

Our delivery rooms provide a spacious and relaxing environment as you welcome your baby. Experienced labor and delivery staff use advanced medical technology and have the expertise to manage C-section (Cesarean) births and other surgical procedures.

Breastfeeding Support

NMMC advocates breastfeeding as the superior choice of infant nutrition. Lactation consultants are available to help mothers better understand the benefits of breastfeeding and to learn feeding techniques and coping skills.
