Nurse Practitioner Cindy Smith Joins NMMC Rehabilitation Institute
Acute care nurse practitioner Cindy Smith, ACNP, has joined the care team at North Mississippi Medical Center’s Rehabilitation Institute.TUPELO, Mississippi—Acute care nurse practitioner Cindy Smith, ACNP, has joined the care team at North Mississippi Medical Center’s Rehabilitation Institute.
Smith, a 1997 graduate of Tishomingo County High School, earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from the University of Mississippi in 2001 and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of North Alabama in 2005. She completed her master’s degree in nursing and nurse practitioner training in 2012 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
Smith brings experience in acute care and specialty practice from the University of Mississippi Medical Center, NMMC and Digestive Health Specialists/OneGI. In her new role, she will care for patients recovering from illness, injury or surgery as they work toward greater independence.
NMMC’s Rehabilitation Institute is a 30-bed inpatient unit where rehabilitation professionals provide three to five hours of intensive therapy daily to help patients reach their individual goals. The team includes physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, rehabilitation nurses, social workers and case managers.
