Visitation Policy at NMMC Women’s Hospital

Visiting hours for maternity patients at NMMC Women’s Hospital are in place to help our patients and families have the best experience possible.

Maternity Patients (Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby Unit)

Primary Support Person

 Baby’s Father/Significant Other

  • Not counted as a “visitor”
  • Wears an armband, does not wear a badge
  • May stay throughout the hospital stay & overnight with the patient

Two Adult Visitors

  • Should be 18 or older
  • Wear a visitor badge
  • May visit Labor & Delivery at any time
  • ONE may stay for delivery (in addition to the primary support person)
  • ONE may stay overnight if the primary support person with the armband cannot stay overnight
  • May NOT swap in and out with other visitors during delivery or overnight stay
  • May visit & swap out on the Mother/Baby Unit in mornings prior to Visitation Hours

Siblings

 Noon-8 p.m.

  • Should be a sibling of the newborn
  • Wear an armband
  • May visit between noon-8 p.m.
  • Must be accompanied by an adult visitor
  • May not stay overnight

Four Adult Visitors

 Noon-8 p.m.

  • Should be 18 or older
  • Wear a visitor badge
  • May visit between noon-8 p.m.
  • No more than four visitors at the bedside at a time
  • May swap in and out with other visitors

NICU Visitation

Mother & Father/Support Person

  • May stay throughout the hospital stay and overnight with the patient

Four Adult Visitors

  • Wear a visitor badge
  • Four other visitors over age 18 may visit anytime
  • These four additional visitors shall remain the same throughout NICU hospitalization

Siblings

 Noon-8 p.m.

  • Wear an armband
  • Must be at least 4 years old
  • May visit between noon-8 p.m.
  • Must be accompanied by a parent or grandparent
  • Visiting should be limited to 30 minutes
  • May not stay overnight

Two Additional Adult Visitors

 Noon-8 p.m.

  • Should be 18 or older
  • Wear a visitor badge
  • May visit between noon-8 p.m.
  • Visiting should be limited to 30 minutes
  • Must be accompanied by parent or support person
  • No more than four visitors at the bedside at a time, including the parents
  • May swap in and out with other visitors

For protection of our patients, visitation may be limited during peak seasons of infections (flu, RSV, etc.)
