NMMC Cancer Care Welcomes Amit Jain, MD

TUPELO, Mississippi – North Mississippi Medical Center Cancer Care is proud to announce that Amit Jain, MD, is joining NMMC Hematology Oncology.

Dr. Jain was born and raised in India. He attended high school, completed his undergraduate studies and earned his medical degree there. After graduation, he moved to the United States initially for oncology research at the National Institutes of Health.

He then completed an internal medicine residency and a hematology-oncology fellowship program at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. During his fellowship, Dr. Jain was awarded membership into the prestigious medical honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha.

Dr. Jain says his love for medicine began at a young age. “Growing up, my father owned a small private hospital in India, which provided me with a unique and firsthand view of the healthcare industry,” he said. “Witnessing the dedicated efforts of doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals in providing care, comfort, and relief to patients left a lasting impression on me.”

Dr. Jain is excited to join the Hematology Oncology team. “I look forward to gaining invaluable experience within this exceptional health care system, caring for complex patients, and thriving as a physician,” Dr. Jain said. “The hospital's strong cancer team offers an ideal environment for collaboration, where I can contribute effectively to make a difference in cancer patients' lives.”

Dr. Jain’s hobbies include watching movies and new TV shows and working out in the gym. But lately, he says he doesn’t have much time for either due to the “joyful demands of parenting two young children, a 2-year-old girl, and a 5-month-old boy.”
