Athletic Trainers Complete CareFlight Course

Certified athletic trainers with North Mississippi Medical Center’s Sports Medicine Program recently completed a Landing Zone course hosted by NMMC CareFlight team members Larry Pittman, Teresa Wilbanks, Cynthia Lentz and Kyle Holley, as well as Javier Tiscareno of NMMC's Critical Care Transport Unit. The team educated athletic trainers so they would be prepared should an emergency arise at the schools they serve. Classroom information included flight criteria, flight physiology, scene safety, providing location information and radio communication. Athletic trainers also learned how to properly approach the aircraft, as well as loading and unloading procedures.
