NMMC's teaching affiliation with the University of Mississippi Medical Center spans more than 40 years. Our surgeons serve on UMMC's Department of Surgery's faculty.

NMMC-Tupelo's surgical expertise includes:

Pre-Anesthesia Admissions Testing (PAAT)

Patients visit the hospital’s Pre-Anesthesia Admissions Testing (PAAT) before their actual surgery. The surgeon's office schedules the appointment. A registered nurse takes each patient's medical history and discusses the anesthesia. The surgeon orders lab work and may schedule other tests.

Anesthesia

A member of the anesthesia team meets with all surgery patients before surgery. The anesthesiologist or nurse anesthetists will ask about any problems with anesthesia. The anesthesiologist selects anesthesia that fits the patient's medical history and the responses provided.
