Biography
Lori Wiygul, RN, FNP-C, earned her associate degree in nursing from Itawamba Community College in Fulton in 2003. Shortly after graduation, she joined the team in North Mississippi Medical Center’s Critical Care Unit, where she worked until 2017 and served as Nurse Manager. She transferred to Anesthesia and did pre-operative assessments before joining Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery Clinic in 2023.
Lori completed her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of North Alabama in Florence in 2008 and NMMC’s Nurse Executive Fellowship in 2015. She earned her master’s degree in nursing from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg in 2017.
Nursing was a second career for Lori, who worked at a restaurant for several years and then purchased it after graduating from high school. “I have always had a passion for helping and serving the members of my community,” she says. “I had a family member in the health care field, and I got to experience firsthand how their care impacted the lives of their patients. This inspired me to become a caregiver.”
Lori enjoys meeting new people and providing a positive healing environment. As a nurse practitioner, she believes her role is to provide her patients with detailed care and education on their disease process and ways they can prevent complications. “I love seeing my patients improve,” she adds.
Outside of work, Lori enjoys spending quality time with her granddaughters and the rest of her family. She loves singing and playing the guitar and keyboard, and she uses her musical talents to serve in her church praise band, Koinonia Community events, recovery programs and various special occasions.
When she has spare time, she likes to do woodwork projects around her home or enjoy the beauty of nature in her backyard.
