Combine love for technology with love for others? Logan Tate shows a compassionate, patient-focused leader whose purpose is to better serve the people in his community.

What do you get when you combine love for technology with love for others? In Logan Tate’s case, you get a compassionate, patient-focused leader whose purpose is to better serve the people in his community.

“North Mississippi Health Services is where my family, friends, neighbors and many of the people I know seek care,” Logan shares. “I want to be part of continuously making that better.”

Logan’s career path was influenced when he was a high school student exploring career opportunities by a chance encounter with the late Jim Spruiell, former chief flight nurse at North Mississippi Medical Center. Jim’s compassion and leadership are well-known throughout this region, and his wisdom and experience made a profound impact on Logan.

“I was so impressed with his abilities and skills as a flight paramedic and registered nurse,” Logan reflects. “He encouraged me to launch my own career by starting out in an EMT program.”

Shortly after obtaining his EMT-Basic certification, Logan became an emergency room technologist at North Mississippi Medical Center-Tupelo where he found unwavering support from his team. After serving in this role for just a year, Logan made the leap and began his journey toward becoming a registered nurse.

Logan served in multiple capacities as an RN, including cardiac observation and emergency services, for just over 10 years. As he continued to blossom, Logan began looking for other opportunities to expand his role. Thankfully, in addition to his natural drive to succeed, Logan is part of an organization that helps teammates achieve what might’ve once seemed impossible.

“NMHS is a fantastic organization that supports academic achievement and learning,” Logan says. “I was fortunate to take advantage of our tuition assistance benefit and was continuously encouraged to grow.”

Logan recently obtained a master’s degree in health care informatics, which gives him advanced knowledge of the integration of health care, computer, information and cognitive sciences to help manage health care data.

“Lee Waldrop really pushed me to pursue this final step in my academic career,” Logan says. “She saw my interest in marrying health care throughput and technology and pushed me to pursue that passion.”

At every step of the way, Logan found support from his teammates and leadership. As his experience and education grew, so did the opportunities to put his knowledge into action.

“What I love most about my career is that it allows me to connect my academic achievements with real-world problems,” Logan says. “Simply utilizing technology to fix problems that health care organizations across the country experience is a joy for me.”

Logan’s journey from dedicated EMT to Director of Patient Logistics and EMS Dispatch is a testament to his ambition and the opportunities he found at NMHS. Logan says he has many folks to thank for supporting him along his journey: his wife, children, parents and many mentors and teammates.

“I am grateful to so many, but I am especially grateful for our chief nursing executive, Angie Lambert,” Logan smiles. “She has encouraged me to never stop learning, never stop growing and never forget that at the end of the day, everything is about the patient.”

At NMHS, you’ll find the support you need to learn and grow, just as Logan did. From our tuition reimbursement benefit to personalized mentorship, leadership development resources and opportunities to explore different career paths, our organization supports you along your journey.

“I was born at this hospital, I’ve grown up in this organization and I hope to be here in Tupelo for the rest of my life,” Logan says. “What I do is especially rewarding when it impacts people in my hometown.”

If you’re looking to make a difference in your career and the lives of others, you can find that right here at NMHS.
