NMMC Honors Jenkins with DAISY Award

TUPELO, Mississippi— North Mississippi Medical Center has recognized Anna Jenkins, LPN, of the Emergency Services Department with the most recent DAISY Award.
A coworker nominated Jenkins for her extraordinary devotion to a patient and family in January. Jenkins learned that this mother and her two young children had recently lost their home and were staying in their car that night to keep warm. “Anna gave the mother a hotel room and warm food for the night out of her own pocket,” her coworker wrote. “I have never seen someone go above and beyond the way Anna did. The mother was truly grateful and in tears by Anna’s gesture. I know it made a great impact on her and her children. I aspire to be half the nurse Anna Jenkins is.”
A graduate of Amory High School, Jenkins completed her nursing training at Itawamba Community College. She joined the NMMC team in 2018.
Jenkins received a certificate, a DAISY Award pin, a bouquet donated by Bishop’s Flower Shop and a hand-carved stone sculpture titled A Healer’s Touch. The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary compassionate and skillful care given by nurses every day.
