AMORY, Mississippi—North Mississippi Medical Center Gilmore-Amory recently presented the DAISY Award to registered nurse Brooke Lyle of the Intensive Care Unit.
Lyle was nominated by her coworkers for the way she seeks to meet the needs of her patients and their families and supports her teammates as they work to do the same.
“She always has so much energy and is so helpful with our therapy team,” her coworker wrote.
Lyle said she is grateful for the opportunity to care for patients and their families as part of an amazing team in the NMMC Gilmore-Amory ICU.
“Being a nurse is the most humbling experience,” Lyle said. “At the end of every shift, as I reflect on my day, I am always reminded that I did not just choose nursing, nursing chose me.”
Lyle joined the hospital staff in 2021 and has worked in both the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. She earned her associate degree in nursing at Itawamba Community College in Fulton and her bachelor’s degree in nursing at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
Lyle is married, and the couple has five sons and a granddaughter.
Lyle received a certificate, DAISY Award pin, bouquet of flowers and a hand-carved stone sculpture titled A Healer’s Touch. The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary compassionate and skillful care given by nurses every day.
