AMORY, Mississippi – North Mississippi Medical Center Gilmore-Amory recently recognized registered nurse Brenteney “Brent” Fortune of Women’s Center and Pediatric Unit as its Employee of the Quarter.

Fortune was nominated for consideration as Employee of the Quarter after she was lauded by a patient’s family for providing a great hospital experience.

“Brent provided exceptional care, eased the nerves of us all and stayed on top of pain control; she could not have made our stay any better,” the family member wrote. “It eased my mind knowing I could trust her when I had to leave. You should be so proud to have Brent be a part of your Women’s Center.”

Fortune joined the NMMC Gilmore-Amory team in 2020 and has cared for post-surgical patients, new mothers, infants and children in the Women’s Center and Pediatric Unit.

“What I love most about my job is being able to help and care for my patients through their most difficult and vulnerable times,” Fortune said. “I love being able to provide my patients with kindness, comfort and support while they need it most.”

Fortune began her health care career as a licensed practical nurse, completing her training at Bevill State Community College in Hamilton, Alabama, in 2013. She earned her associate degree in nursing from Bevill State in 2019 and completed her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Mississippi University for Women in Columbus in 2022. She is currently working on her master’s degree through Walden University to become a family nurse practitioner.

She and husband, Dustin, have four children, A.J., Brayden, Peyton and Kinleigh.
