TUPELO, Mississippi – For 26 years, Felicia “Gail” McKinney has lived her faith as a certified licensed practical nurse at North Mississippi Medical Center.
“I thank God for calling me into health care,” said McKinney, who will finish her NMMC career at Cancer Care. She has drawn inspiration from 3 John 2, “that we are prospering in health, as our soul prospers" to provide the best care to every patient, every time.
McKinney began her NMMC career in 1997, working as a practical nurse on 6 South nursing unit in the main hospital. She went on to work in the outpatient setting, caring for patients at IMA-Tupelo and serving as a clinical nurse liaison for NMMC Home Health. For most of the past two years, she has helped hematology and oncology patients at NMMC Cancer Care.
“The best part of my job at NMMC has been giving quality and compassionate care to patients,” McKinney said. “I will certainly miss working with all the providers, friends and co-workers and caring for patients.”
McKinney graduated from Shannon High School. She attended Northeast Mississippi Community College and Itawamba Community College. She completed her training as a certified licensed practical nurse in 1995. She holds certifications for IV Therapy, Basic Life Support and Tuberculosis.
She was married to the late Standley McKinney. She has three daughters, Lashawnna, Andrea Katasha and Fenesha, and five grandchildren, Undraia, Gabriel, Ryland, Reagan and Reese.
McKinney is looking forward to traveling and spending time with family and friends.
“I have certainly enjoyed my working experience at North Mississippi Medical Center,” McKinney said. “The bonds that I have formed with co-workers, providers and patients will be remembered forever.”
