Congratulations to Pamela Brasfield, an MRI technologist at Longtown Imaging, who recently retired after more than 41 years of service at North Mississippi Medical Center.

Pam joined NMMC’s Radiology team in 1981 and worked the evening shift for five years as a staff technologist. In 1987, she became one of the first MRI technologists at NMMC, a role she held until retirement.

“By far, the people here have been the best part of my job at NMMC,” Pam says. “I’ve made lifelong friendships, and I consider my coworkers family. I have also appreciated the opportunity to make a difference.”

Pam was named Employee of the Month twice during her career at NMMC. “I will miss taking care of patients and seeing many of them on a regular basis,” she says. “I've loved being part of their lives. And I'll definitely miss all my friends here that I see every day.”

A 1978 graduate of Aberdeen High School, she earned her degree in radiologic technology from Itawamba Junior College (now ICC) in 1980.

Pam says her 41 years at NMMC have passed quickly and health care has changed dramatically. “The first day we offered MRIs here, it took all day to do five MRI patients. Now it takes 15 minutes to do the same MRI that took two hours in the beginning,” she says. “NMMC has been a wonderful place to work and has enabled me to have a job that provided many learning experiences, the chance to train other MRI techs that came after me and to continually share my knowledge and the opportunity to form so many friendships. I'm so thankful to NMMC for providing me an exciting and fulfilling career. I couldn't be more proud of my time here!”

She is an active member of Harrisburg Baptist Church, where she sings in the Sanctuary Choir and taught Children’s Choir for more than 20 years. In retirement, Pam plans to spend time with family, travel more (including a trip to the Holy Land in September) and just enjoy life. She is an avid fan of Mississippi State University and looks forward to attending more games, as well as spending time with her fur baby, PJ.
