TUPELO, Mississippi—North Mississippi Medical Clinics recently named registered nurse April Faulkner Hathcock of Pulmonary Consultants as Star of the Month.

Hathcock joined the North Mississippi Health Services family in 2008 as a nurse in the Critical Care Unit at North Mississippi Medical Center-Tupelo. She transferred to Pulmonary Consultants in Tupelo in June 2017.

“What I love most about my job is that I have a great work family,” Hathcock said. “Together, we get to provide the best care for our patients.”

Hathcock graduated from Smithville High School. She attended Itawamba Community College before earning her nursing degree from Mississippi University for Women in 2008.

Her co-workers describe her as a team player, a passionate advocate for patients and a bubbly, fun, precious soul who lightens the loads of those around her.

“She is always willing to help in a crisis, and you can always count on her,” one of her colleagues wrote in her nomination for the Star of the Month. “Most days, she has a story or a joke to go along with it to help you make it through those tough days.”

Her teammates say Hathcock is meticulous in her work, ensuring medications and patient information are updated at every office visit, returning phone calls and promptly reporting test results. However, she never loses sight of the person behind all the tasks required of nurses. 

“April shows compassion to every patient she interacts with,” another colleague wrote in nominating Hathcock. “She listens to them with an open mind, takes their complaints seriously and is intent on delivering the greatest care possible. She truly cares for her patients.”

Hathcock is the daughter of Teddy and Judy Faulkner. She and her husband, Dustin, have one daughter, Reagan. She is a member of Smithville Baptist Church.
