HAMILTON, Alabama—Nursing supervisor April Franks has been selected by her peers as North Mississippi Medical Center-Hamilton’s Star of the Quarter.

Franks joined the hospital staff 11 years ago as a medical/surgical nurse and became a nursing supervisor in 2021. She holds an associate degree in nursing from Bevill State Community College and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of North Alabama.

“April is a leader we want to follow,” her nomination states. “We learn so much from April.” Coworkers appreciate her willingness to work any shift as needed to ensure patients receive the best quality care. “April shows compassion and kindness to everyone, and her patients love her,” another wrote. “April is easy to talk to, and together we come up with the best solutions, always considering our patients’ needs first.”

“The best part of my job is bringing joy to the lives of my patients and coworkers,” Franks said. “I enjoy being able to lighten their burden, whether it be physical, emotional or spiritual. Although times get tough in healthcare, Jesus helps strengthen my resolve to keep going.”

She and her husband, Tommy, have two sons, Caleb and Joshua. She attends Hamilton Free Will Baptist Church and enjoys reading, kayaking, baking and playing games of all kinds with her family and friends.
