NMMC-Pontotoc Honors Tunnell as Star of the Quarter
North Mississippi Medical Center-Pontotoc has named certified nursing assistant Amber Tunnell as Star of the Quarter.
PONTOTOC, Mississippi – North Mississippi Medical Center-Pontotoc has named certified nursing assistant Amber Tunnell as Star of the Quarter.
Tunnell, who was recently promoted to unit coordinator and monitor technician, joined NMMC-Pontotoc in 2014.
“I love taking care of my patients,” Tunnell said. “I love to help them to be able to get better and get back home with their loved ones. I love working with my coworkers; I have very supportive coworkers.”
In nominating Tunnell for recognition, her coworkers wrote she often goes above and beyond expectations. For example, on a day where Tunnell had 10 patients to care for, she took time to made follow-up appointments for patients who were ready to be discharged from the hospital the next day.
“She has worked extra shifts to make sure that patients can receive the care that they need,” a colleague wrote. “She does not hesitate to take care of what is needed to ensure our patients are well cared for on the nursing unit. Amber is a true example of what teamwork looks and feels like.”
Tunnell graduated from Frederick High School in Frederick, Oklahoma. She attended Centura College, where she studied medical billing and coding. She completed her training in 2012.
Tunnell and her husband, James, have two children, Payton and Angel.
