TUPELO, Mississippi—North Mississippi Medical Center recently honored Clara Bean, a certified nursing assistant, monitor technician and unit coordinator on 3 West, with the BEE (Beyond Exceptional Expectations) Award.

“Clara asked me if I could watch the desk while she went to the cafeteria. When she got back with food, I noticed her take it to a room,” wrote Bean’s coworker in her nomination. “Clara went and bought an elderly patient’s wife a hot breakfast because she had trouble walking. This is such a kind, selfless act, and the patient and his wife were so grateful for Clara’s act of love.” The coworker wrote that Bean is “always going above and beyond” for her patients and that she is “a great example of what we should be as health care heroes.”

A 2001 graduate of Okolona High School, Bean received her certified nursing assistant training from Itawamba Community College. She worked for a nursing home before joining NMMC’s 3 West team in 2015.

Bean received a certificate, a BEE Award pin, a bouquet donated by Bishop’s Flower Shop and cupcakes.

The BEE Award is given to a deserving caregiver each month at NMMC. For more information, call (662) 377-3431 or email BEEAwards@nmhs.net.
