TUPELO, Mississippi-- Kelli Hill, manager of Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) for North Mississippi Health Services, recently represented NMHS in a national publication and two professional meetings.

Hill helped lead a CDI Master Class for the Association of Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists. The panel discussion focused on the strengths and limitations of CDI, promises and threats of advanced technology, and successes, failures and future of CDI.

In addition, she recently presented “The First 48 Hours—CDI Query Response Time” during the Mississippi Health Information Management Association. The presentation focused on CDI query response time and physician engagement.

Hill also authored an article titled, “The First 48 Hours: How a North Mississippi Medical Center Increased Provider Response Time to CDI Inquiries” for the Journal of American Health Information Management Association, the leading authority in health information.

Clinical Documentation Integrity is incredibly important as regulators and insurance companies review medical records to ensure quality and safety standards are met and to confirm billed charges match the care delivered. Clinical documentation specialists (CDS) are nurses who work with physicians to ensure all medical record documentation is complete and accurate. Hill leads the CDS staff throughout North Mississippi Health Services hospitals.

A Ripley resident, Hill holds an associate degree in nursing from Northeast Mississippi Community College and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Mississippi University for Women. She worked as an emergency and medical-surgical nurse before transitioning to case management in 2012.  

Hill became certified by the American Case Management Association in 2017 and joined the NMHS staff in October 2019. She earned her Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) credentials in 2020.
