Dr. Pickering Joins Tupelo Eye Center
Tupelo Eye Center welcomes Belmont native Ashley Horn Pickering, M.D., ophthalmologist, to the staff.TUPELO, Mississippi—Tupelo Eye Center welcomes Belmont native Ashley Horn Pickering, M.D., ophthalmologist, to the staff.
Dr. Pickering treats eye diseases and disorders including cataracts, glaucoma, retinal diseases, macular degeneration, trauma, diabetic retinopathy and more. She joins Drs. William Brawner and Lee Walker at the clinic and will also be on the medical staff at North Mississippi Medical Center.
Dr. Pickering earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Mississippi State University in Starkville in 2014 and her medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson in 2018. She recently completed residency training in ophthalmology at Louisiana State University in Shreveport.
Dr. Pickering graduated summa cum laude from MSU, where she received the Stephen D. Lee Scholar Award and was a member of the Shackouls Honors College. At UMMC she was involved in several research projects, served as president of the American Medical Women’s Association, organized an eyeglasses drive on campus, coordinated volunteers for Camp Superhero, a camp for children with special needs, and volunteered for numerous activities and events.
A 2010 graduate of Belmont High School, Dr. Pickering looks forward to beginning her practice in north Mississippi. She is the daughter of Joel and Cindy Horn of Belmont and is married to Tyler Pickering, a native of Red Bay, Alabama.
