Tunnell Honored as Outstanding Employee
Angie Tunnell, office manager for Chickasaw Medical Clinic, has been selected as North Mississippi Medical Clinics’ most recent Employee of the Month.
TUPELO, Miss.—Angie Tunnell, office manager for Chickasaw Medical Clinic, has been selected as North Mississippi Medical Clinics’ most recent Employee of the Month.
Prior to joining Chickasaw Medical Clinic in August 1993, Tunnell worked for Dr. Edward Gore’s office. She started there as a file clerk in May 1984 and worked as an insurance clerk from June 1985 until July 1993.
In her nominations, Tunnell was cited as compassionate, hard-working, dedicated, helpful, patient, kind, enthusiastic, respectful and more. “For many in our community, she is the face of our clinic, and they are comforted by her presence just as much as any of the providers. It’s easy to know why,” Chickasaw Medical Clinic staff wrote. “She greets each and every person with a smile and kind word. She is easily approachable and calmly navigates the complexities of keeping our little clinic running day in and day out. It is apparent daily how much she loves this clinic and her community.”
Tunnell was also nominated by staff from Okolona Medical Clinic, where she recently served as interim office manager while continuing to manage the Houston clinic. “She is a pro at time management and prioritizing,” they wrote. “She juggled a myriad of urgent and non-urgent requests and did so with a positive attitude. She is the definition of teamwork and an asset to her clinic and the clinic system.”
Tunnell says her “amazing, caring team” is what she loves most about her job. “Listening to and helping our patients is so rewarding, to feel like we’re making a difference,” she says. “They’re like family to us, and I feel like helping others is what health care is all about.”
Tunnell is a 1985 graduate of Houston High School. She and her husband, Terry, have two children, Lance (Emily) Tunnell and Lindsey (Chris) Fedrick, and two grandchildren, Cole and Beau Tunnell.
