Teresa Tittle, registered nurse and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist with the Diabetes Treatment Center, has retired from North Mississippi Medical Center after 38 years of service.

A 1981 graduate of South Pontotoc Attendance Center, Tittle trained as a licensed practical nurse at Itawamba Community College, graduating in 1983. She began her career on NMMC’s 4 East on Sept. 27 of that year and one year later transferred to Pediatrics, where she worked almost 20 years between two stints on that unit. She earned her associate degree in nursing from Northeast Mississippi Community College in 1990 and her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of North Alabama in Florence in December 2019.

From 1994-1997, Tittle worked with diabetes patients through NMMC Home Health and found her true calling. She joined the Diabetes Treatment Center in 2003 and finished out her career there on July 16, retiring early because of health issues.

“It has been an amazing ride,” Tittle says. “I have worked with some of the greatest people. I have loved working with patients, and I have been honored to serve as an advocate for diabetes patients for many years, because that is my passion.”

She has two daughters—Elizabeth Sanderford (husband Blake) of Baldwyn and Rebakah Wilson of Tupelo—and a 6-year-old grandson, Simon. Now that she is retired, Tittle plans to spend more time playing with Simon, piddling in her yard, exercising at the Wellness Center and reading.
