Linda joined NMMC as an accounting clerk in September 1990 and was promoted to accountant in 2006. A 1976 graduate of North Pontotoc Attendance Center, she attended Itawamba Community College before earning her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Mississippi in Oxford in 1980. She earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting there in 2006.
Early in her hospital career, Linda worked closely with NMMC-Pontotoc, Acclaim, North Mississippi Enterprises and North Mississippi Emergency Services. She was an accountant for North Mississippi Medical Clinics and Professional Practice Management from 2014 until she retired Oct. 29.
“It doesn’t seem like it could be 31 years,” Linda says, “until I think about all the changes that took place over that time.” Most of the accounting processes that were manual when Linda started with NMHS are now automated. “It’s just amazing,” she says. “We can get a lot more done in a lot less time.”
While Linda has been looking forward to retirement, she says she will miss the Accounting Department staff. “Everyone works together and tries to help each other,” she says. “We make it fun.”
In retirement, Linda looks forward to working in her yard, reading, crocheting and cooking. She and her husband of six years, Charles, recently bought a camper and plan to do some traveling. She and her sister, Judy Conaway, plan to visit antique shops. Linda is the widow of Scotty Bramlett, who passed away in 1994.
Her stepfamily includes Roy Petty (Nikki) of Columbus; Katherine Hubbard of Columbus; David Petty of Longview, Texas; and grandchildren Sean, Isaiah, Daniel, Abby and Brian.
