TUPELO, Miss.—North Mississippi Medical Clinics recently named medical technologist Ashley Williams, MT (A.S.C.P.), at Okolona Medical Clinic, as the November Employee of the Month.

Williams, who works in the clinics lab and performs X-rays, has worked for North Mississippi Health Services for more than 20 years.

She is a graduate of Shannon High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in medical technology from the University of Mississippi. She is certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology.

“What I love most about my job is the relationships that I build with my patients,” Williams said. “Most of them come on a regular basis so I really get to know them and they become like family.”

In nominating Williams, one of her colleagues wrote that “She uses her own strength not to shine above others, but to allow the team to shine through…She exhibits grace under pressure” when the lab is extremely busy.

Williams is diligent in taking care of the smallest details, from taking extra precautions during COVID-19 testing or volunteering to answer alarms for the clinic’s refrigerators to prevent spoilage of temperature sensitive supplies, her colleague wrote. She usually arrives at the clinic before 7 a.m. to get the lab ready for the first patients.

“She checks each lab appointment a week before the patient arrives at the clinic,” her nominating colleague said. “She makes sure that the appointments line up with insurance guidelines.”

Williams lives in Shannon with her husband Richard, a Plantersville Middle School teacher, and their children, Nealy, a Nettleton High School senior, and J.R., a Nettleton Junior High School eighth grader. She is a member of Old Union Baptist Church in Shannon.
