WEST POINT, Mississippi—North Mississippi Medical Center-West Point has awarded $1,000 college scholarships to recent graduates Aidan Henson and Baylee Smith.

Henson is a graduate of Oak Hill Academy and plans to attend the University of Mississippi and major in biology. He plans to pursue a career in health care and is interested in optometry. He is actively involved in community service through school and church. He is a member of the National Honor Society and served as senior class representative. He was elected senior class Vice President and Student Government Association Class Representative and is an Honor Roll Student.

Smith is a graduate of Oak Hill Academy and plans to attend East Mississippi Community College to pursue a degree in nursing. She currently works at First Baptist Early Childhood Ministry. Through the Anchor Club, Smith participated in many community service opportunities. She was also involved in Sports Media, Acorn Club and the Student Section Committee. She was a varsity softball player and varsity cheerleader.

The scholarships are awarded through the Health Care Foundation of North Mississippi to graduating high school seniors pursuing a health care career. Applicants are judged based on ACT score, high school transcript, extracurricular activities, personal statements, interviews and letters of recommendation.
