NMMC Home Health Selects Chambers as Caregiver of the Year
North Mississippi Medical Center Home Health recently honored Tenisha Chambers of New Albany as Caregiver of the Year.TUPELO, Miss.—North Mississippi Medical Center Home Health recently honored Tenisha Chambers of New Albany as Caregiver of the Year.
Chambers is caring for her father, Lee Satterwhite. After suffering a stroke, he was bedbound and required total care. Chambers was working full time as a nurse but knew that her mother would be unable to provide the care that her father needed. Chambers renovated and moved both of her parents into her own home with her husband and two young children. She took a leave of absence from her full-time job to assure that her father was provided with around-the-clock care. Chambers provided excellent wound care for her father, who healed well enough to participate in all therapies. Chambers’ mother, Marie Satterwhite, is also assisting in her husband’s care.
“Tenisha never appeared frustrated or burdened as she provided this total care,” NMMC Home Health staff wrote in her nomination. “She was always grateful for the assistance we provided and greeted us each visit with a gentle spirit.”
Home Health staff say Chambers followed through with every recommendation the home health staff made. “Because of her sacrificial care, it is without hesitation that we nominate Tenisha for this award.” her nomination states. “She is truly one of the best caregivers we have ever encountered in our years in home care.”
“She truly exhibited selfless care in a situation that was totally beyond her control,” a physical therapist wrote. “As a result, Mr. Satterwhite was able to transition from home care services to outpatient care so that he can continue his recovery.”
