NMMC Gilmore-Amory Presents DAISY Award to McGee
North Mississippi Medical Center Gilmore-Amory has presented its most recent DAISY Award to registered nurse Lindsey McGee in the central unit.
AMORY, Miss.—North Mississippi Medical Center Gilmore-Amory has presented its most recent DAISY Award to registered nurse Lindsey McGee in the central unit.
McGee was nominated by the son of a patient she was caring for. In the nomination letter, the son wrote, “Lindsey brought something a little extra every time she walked through the door into his room. On the not-so-good days she would come with that big smile and he would immediately reach for her hand. Even after his surgery and his health began to rapidly decline, all we would have to say to him was, ‘Dad, Lindsey is here,’ and he would perk up and try to reach for her hand.”
McGee earned her associate degree in nursing from Bevill State Community College in Fayette, Alabama. She joined the NMMC staff in 2020. She and her husband Ryan attend Vernon Church of Christ in Alabama. She has one daughter named Kalyn.
“What I love most about my job is getting to take care of and getting to know each of the patients I meet,” McGee wrote. “Getting to help make them feel better or getting a laugh or a smile out of them makes my day better.”
McGee received a certificate, a DAISY Award pin, and a bouquet of flowers from coworkers.
The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary compassionate and skillful care given by nurses every day. For more information, call (662) 377-3431 or email daisyawards@nmhs.net.
