PONTOTOC, Mississippi—North Mississippi Medical Center-Pontotoc recently recognized Sandy Dill, patient access specialist in Emergency Services, as the most recent Employee of the Quarter.
Dill, who joined the staff in 2018, was nominated by her peers in the Business Services Department for her acts of devotion, excellence, teamwork and consistent behaviors. They noted her compassion and smile, which is evident even under her mask to patients and coworkers.
“Sandy can multitask with such ease, making both the person signing into the Emergency Services Department and the person checking out feel like their needs are the most important,” a coworker wrote. They also cited her for being observant of her surroundings—cleaning spills in the Emergency Services lobby, offering wheelchair assistance and calling for law enforcement when needed to ensure a secure environment.
Coworkers say Dill has a strong work ethic and is always willing to help. “Sandy goes above and beyond. Before the pandemic, she made birthday cakes each month for nursing home residents,” her nomination states. “She sent thank you cards on behalf of Business Services for all donations from our community during the pandemic. She also provides food for Emergency Services patients who are stranded at the facility for extended periods of time.”
Dill says she enjoys working the night shift with “a solid team with great leadership.”
She and her husband, Gene, have four children—Cody Street (wife Jessica), Tobi Bean, Jonathan Wilson and Rachel Thornton (husband Darron), and 10 grandchildren. She resides in Pontotoc and attends Chesterville Calvary Baptist Church, where she teaches Sunday School, serves on the Children’s Committee and is active with the women’s group. In her spare time, she enjoys photography.
