WEST POINT, Mississippi—Janice Carter of Food and Nutrition Services has been selected by her peers as North Mississippi Medical Center-West Point’s most recent Employee of the Quarter.
Carter joined the NMMC-West Point staff in 1994. A graduate of West Point High School, she holds ServSafe® certification.
Co-workers nominated Carter for her flexibility while feeding patients and staff, and for keeping a positive attitude during challenges. Co-workers say she stays abreast of patient and staff numbers in order to adequately prepare meals and minimize food waste. She was also cited for her leadership in determining food needs and conserving supply during this year’s ice storm, and for changing her work schedule to accommodate others.
“The best part of my job is serving others,” Carter says.
She and her husband, Deacon Rex Carter, have three children – Jackie Carter Lairy, Derrick Carter, Corey Carter. They also have 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She attends St. Matthew’s Temple Church of God in Christ in West Point, where she has served as District Secretary, YWCC President, Purity Class President and Choir President.
