Wanda Benson of Outpatient Infusion Services recently retired after more than 42 years of service at North Mississippi Medical Center.

Benson graduated from Shannon High School in 1975. She joined the NMMC staff in 1979 and worked in the Pharmacy Department. In recent years she served in admissions at Outpatient Infusion Services.  Throughout her career, she has been a mentor and trained countless employees.

Benson’s co-workers say she is “not just a co-worker but also a friend.” “I’ve been blessed to have Wanda as a coworker since 1991,” a co-worker said. “Wanda was so approachable, knowledgeable and helpful to me.” Another coworker said, “We will certainly miss her terribly and wish her all the best as she enters this new chapter of life.”

After her retirement on Aug. 6, Benson says she is looking forward to spending more time with her mother and brother. She also plans on traveling with her friends.
