TUPELO, Miss.—Tina Barnett, a nursing assistant and unit coordinator in the Critical Care Unit, recently received North Mississippi Medical Center’s BEE (Beyond Exceptional Expectations) Award.

Barnett was asked to sit with a hospital patient’s daughter who was developmentally delayed until a social worker could place her in a safe environment. “Tina not only attended to her needs, she went out of her way to shower her, shampoo her hair and get her clean clothes,” wrote a registered nurse in Barnett’s nomination. “She even made sure her clothes were washed and dried prior to her leaving the hospital grounds. This exceptional care demonstrates the values this hospital strives for on a daily basis.”

A Guntown resident, Barnett graduated from Drew High School in 1989. She joined NMMC’s Critical Care Unit staff in March 2018.

She received a certificate, a BEE Award pin, a bouquet donated by Bishop’s Flower Shop and cupcakes.  The BEE Award is given to a deserving caregiver each month at NMMC.
