Founded in 1989, the NMMC Wellness Center in Tupelo is the most comprehensive health and fitness facility in north Mississippi and the state's first Certified Medical Fitness Facility. Awarded by the Medical Fitness Association, certification means that this facility meets the highest standards for programs, staff, safety and community service.
Located on the NMMC campus, the 50,000-square-foot facility features the finest exercise services available, as well as a half-mile outdoor walking track and sand volleyball court. All instructors are specially trained, degreed and American College of Sports Medicine certified. They possess the expertise and dedication to help you reach your personal fitness goals.

The Front Desk
Member Service Representatives at the Front Desk are happy to assist you with racquetball or Child Care reservations, as well as questions concerning your membership. Current schedules for group exercise classes and upcoming programs are also available at the Front Desk.
Member Lounge
Cool down after your workout with a cool drink or snack, available in the member lounge, which is located by the racquetball tournament court. Food and beverages are restricted to the Member Lounge. We appreciate your consideration in keeping this area clean after use.
Towels
Complimentary towel service is available to all members. Members are requested to limit towel use to two towels per visit, and to use the towel drops in the Locker Rooms. Towels should not be removed from the Wellness Center.
Locker Rooms/Sauna
Lockers are available inside the Locker Rooms for use by members on a per visit basis. Any locks remaining overnight on the Locker Room lockers will be removed and items placed in Lost and Found.
Permanent lockers are available on an annual fee basis. These lockers are located in the corridor outside the Men’s Locker Room and inside Men’s and Women’s locker rooms.
Showers are located in each Locker Room for members’ use. Private dressing booths are available in the Women’s Locker Room. Members are required to wear "shower shoes" while in the shower area as a safety precaution.
Men’s and Women’s Locker Rooms are equipped with hair dryers, lotion, hair and body shampoo, and a swimsuit dryer. The swimsuit dryers are designed only to remove excess water from swimsuits; please limit each use to 15 seconds.
A steam room, sauna and whirlpool are also available for members. If you have high blood pressure, heart disease, respiratory problems, or are pregnant, please consult your physician before you use the steam room, sauna or whirlpool. Please use a towel and wear shower shoes when using the steam room or sauna.

Cancer Wellness Program
Individuals diagnosed with all types and stages of cancer may enroll in the Cancer Wellness Program at NMMC Wellness Center in Tupelo. Anyone who is recently diagnosed with cancer and receiving treatment is eligible to attend with a physician’s referral.
The Cancer Wellness Program combines specifically prescribed exercise with education and support to guide a person through recovery. For more information, call (662) 377-4139.

To reserve Child Care while you exercise, call (662) 377-7753. Children 3 months through 6 years must be supervised in Child Care. Children 7 years and older have the option of staying in the Child Care area.
Class Descriptions
The NMMC Wellness Center in Tupelo offers the following exercise classes:
Advanced Circuit Training (ACT)
A class that alternates cardiovascular with segments of training (meets on the fitness floor).
Body Barre
This class focuses on low-impact, high-intensity movements that incorporate yoga and Pilates to build strength and improve flexibility.
Chair Yoga
A class designed for individuals with any physical limitations. This class uses chairs for all the exercises.
Ladies Circuit Conditioning
This low impact, high intensity class that helps tone your body with strength training and cardio segments.
Extreme
Super fun and hard-core class. If you want to work hard, sweat and see results with cardio and strength training, then this is the class for you!
Functional Fitness
Light to moderate class that will work on improving cardio endurance, flexibility and strength. This is a gentle class for those wishing to slow down their pace. Focus is on breathing, balance, stretching and releasing tension.
Lite Dancing
A slow-paced class designed to help you learn choreographed dance moves such as Electric Slide, cupid shuffle and many more. A class for all levels. Let your inner youth shine through!
Muscle Cut
This class will work on total body shaping utilizing bands, weights and benches.
Pilates Conditioning
Pilates improves flexibility, strength and body awareness. Two key elements of Pilates are core muscle strength and spinal alignment. This class concentrates on core muscles, breath, muscle contraction and quality of movements.
Pilates Core
A class that incorporates Pilates core and yoga for increased flexibility, core strength and balance.
PiYo
Low impact, high intensity workout that combines muscle sculpting benefits of Pilates with flexibility advantages of yoga.
Spin, Core & More
Combines spin, core work and more-- this class pushes you to the limit!

Spin, strength and core all in one class!
STRONG by Zumba
Combines high intensity interval training body weight, muscle conditioning, cardio and plyometric training while using the science of synced music motivation. Learn to train to the beat instead of counting reps. All levels of fitness can participate.
T'ai Chi Chih
A series of 19 movements that improve balance, physical fitness, flexibility and stamina.
Turbo Kick
A mix of kickboxing and simple dance moves set to heart-pounding dance music that will have you looking forward to your next workout.
Yoga
Classified as low intensity but challenging. Work on strength and flexibility while burning calories.
Zumba
A fusion of Latin and International music/dance themes creating a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness workout! The routines feature simple, easy to follow, repetitive dance steps, aerobic/fitness interval training that tone and sculpt the body. This class is designed for all fitness levels... even those with two left feet!
Zumba Toning
High-energy cardio workout infused with body sculpting and Zumba moves to burn calories using lightweight toning sticks.
