Despite the challenges faced by health care providers across the nation, the future is bright for North Mississippi Health Services because we have A. G.R.E.A.T. Redesign Strategy.
Growth of key services plays an important role in our strategy. Our NMHS leadership team follows a process that helps us define which areas we need to focus on for growth.
We connect our plans back to our mission – to continuously improve the health of the people of our region. It’s all about our patients. To achieve our mission, we have to be continuously looking for opportunities to provide better care to our patients.
Our current geographic service area includes 24 counties. Historically our care has been “hospital-centric” or more focused on our seven hospitals. However, across the industry, care is moving more and more to the outpatient setting. This is a great opportunity for us to bring care closer to our patients.
Our mission is to continuously improve the health of the people of our region, so we recognize the need for us to expand services to better serve the communities around us and fill in gaps where care is not as readily available.
We have currently identified at least three areas where we plan to grow – Starkville, Oxford and Corinth. Because these are more heavily populated yet underserved, adding services in these areas will improve access to care for many people.
The key services we are working to expand access include primary care, neurosurgery, cardiology, oncology, orthopedics and others.
