All Great Health Outcomes Start with Great Access

Summary
All great health outcomes start with great access . . . to the right provider, right service at the right place and time.

Access is how consumers and patients use health information, resources and services. North Mississippi Health Services has more than 90 locations where you can access health care, plus we offer many virtual options so our patients can access care in a way that is more convenient for them.
While this may sound like a lot of access points, we know we must continue to grow in order to serve our communities well. The growth and innovation we have achieved in the past and will continue to work toward goes hand-in-hand with creating more access points for patients.
The areas of access we are focused on as a system include:
- Making it easier and faster for you to make appointments by improving processes and recruiting new providers
- Bringing care closer to you by growing primary care and specialty care in locations outside of Tupelo, so that patients throughout our service area don’t have to travel as far
- Making your care more convenient by expanding virtual care opportunities to access care from the convenience of your home or office. For example, current patients who are myConnection users can schedule appointments online, and we are working to expand that to new patients. E-visits make it possible for our patients to address urgent concerns beyond normal business hours and more quickly.
- Ensuring you receive the most appropriate care regardless of where you might “enter” our system. For example, a patient in Tishomingo County who needs emergency heart care would go to the Emergency Room at NMMC-Iuka. We don’t provide open heart surgeries in Iuka, but we have systems in place to connect the patient to all the services provided by NMHS. Our goal is to offer you the most convenient access possible to the full breadth of services offered throughout NMHS regardless of where you live or work.
Improving access means making sure our patients get to the right service, to the right provider, at the right place and at the right time. A G.R.E.A.T. Redesign is the strategy we’re using to help us redesign health care, and that starts with focusing on improving access to great outcomes for our patients and communities.
