AMORY, Mississippi – In appreciation for its ongoing support, North Mississippi Medical Center Gilmore-Amory dedicated its newly refurbished community room in honor of the Gilmore Foundation on Wednesday, May 29.

“The Gilmore Foundation has provided tremendous support to our hospital and the people of Monroe County,” said Jamie Rodgers, administrator of NMMC Gilmore-Amory. “We can do more for our patients, their families and the community because of the foundation’s generosity.”

Located adjacent to the hospital cafeteria, the community room has enhanced technology and new furnishings. The upgrades will allow the hospital to host programs, classes and training sessions for the hospital team and the wider community.

“We have a great partnership with North Mississippi Health Services,” said William “Skip” Miles, chairman of the Gilmore Foundation Board of Directors. “Healthcare is the largest part of our legacy; we are excited to still be a part of it.”

Since 2022, the Gilmore Foundation has provided $650,000 in funding to support technology projects for Surgery, Neonatal Intensive Care and the Community Room.

The private, not-for-profit Gilmore Foundation served as the philanthropic arm of Gilmore Memorial Hospital until its sale in 2005. Since that time, the foundation has harnessed the proceeds of the hospital sale to serve the people of Monroe County. The Amory hospital, founded in 1916 by Ellie and Virginia Gilmore, became a part of the North Mississippi Health Services family in 2019.

Since 2022, the Gilmore Foundation has committed $650,000 to support NMMC Gilmore-Amory, including funds that assisted with the:

  • Purchase of the da Vinci Robot X, providing innovative robotic-assisted surgery system
  • Installation of special cameras in the neonatal intensive care unit that allow parents to check on their critically ill newborns
  • Renovation of the community room located adjacent to the hospital cafeteria

“We are grateful for our collaboration with the Gilmore Foundation team,” said Steven Blaylock, president of the Health Care Foundation of North Mississippi, the philanthropic arm of North Mississippi Health Services. “Their generosity helps us continue our mission to continuously improve the health of the people in our region.”
