Dr. Crowell Joins North Mississippi Regional Pain Consultants
TUPELO, Mississippi—North Mississippi Regional Pain Consultants welcomes Starkville native Dr. Larry Crowell, interventional spine and musculoskeletal medicine physician.
He specializes in spinal injections for back and neck pain, musculoskeletal pain in general, sports medicine, ultrasound-guided injections and regenerative medicine, including platelet rich plasma (PRP).
Dr. Crowell sees patients at North Mississippi Regional Pain Consultants, located in Longtown Medical Park, 4381 S. Eason Blvd., Tupelo. For an appointment, call (662) 377-PAIN (7246) or 1-800-THE DESK (1-800-843-3375).
Dr. Crowell chose his career path after a painful injury of his own. “More than 20 years ago, I injured my back somewhat severely and experienced near constant back and leg pain that ended my college football career,” he says. “My experience inspired me to become a physician who specializes in spine and musculoskeletal pain so I might help those who are limited by pain like I once was.”
A 2001 graduate of Starkville High School, he was an economics major at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts, when his injury sidelined his studies. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in history with a minor in economics from Vanderbilt University in Nashville in 2008 before pursuing his medical degree.
Dr. Crowell graduated from the William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Hattiesburg in 2019. He completed residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, where he also served as chief resident. He completed a North American Spine Society fellowship in interventional spine and musculoskeletal medicine at Jordan Young Institute in Virginia Beach.
“I am very excited to be back in northeast Mississippi where I grew up and serve the wonderful people of this area,” he says. He has a passion for lifelong learning, especially related to pain medicine, sports medicine, diagnostic and therapeutic use of ultrasound, exercise and nutrition science, and history.
“I have an amazing wife and three rambunctious kids who keep me very busy attending a variety of sport and art events,” Dr. Crowell says “I love to stay active myself playing soccer and strength training. If I am not on a sports field or sideline on a Saturday, I am probably watching SEC football.” He also enjoys camping, gardening and cooking.
