Eaton Retires with 40+ Years of Service

Rhonda EatonTUPELO, Mississippi--Congratulations to Rhonda Eaton, RN, of North Mississippi Medical Center’s Heart and Vascular Institute on her recent retirement after more than 40 years of service.

Rhonda joined the NMMC team in March 1983 as a staff nurse and in 1988 she began working with the Cardiac Rehabilitation program. In 1990 she transferred to cardiovascular surgery, where she worked as coordinator/educator and case manager. In 2003, Rhonda began coordinating the hospital’s STS Adult Cardiac Registry, a national registry of cardiac surgery outcomes. She retired as nursing supervisor, a role she held since 2008.

“There have been a lot of changes over 40 years!” Rhonda says. “It has been a ‘bittersweet’ journey. I have met a lot of amazing people and have made many friends.”

A 1979 graduate of Houston High School, Rhonda holds an associate degree in nursing from Itawamba Community College (1983) and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Mississippi University for Women (1995). She attained certification as a Critical Care Registered Nurse in1994.

A former NMMC Employee of the Month, Rhonda says, “Working with patients and staff has been a blessing.” In retirement, she looks forward to traveling, spending time with her grandchildren and becoming more involved with church and community activities.
She and her husband, Jerry, live in Houston. The Eatons have three children--Lance, Dustin and Leslie—and seven grandchildren.
