Shameka Hill Named NMMC-Pontotoc Employee of the Quarter
PONTOTOC, Miss.—Shameka Hill, administrative assistant in Nursing Administration, was recently named Employee of the Quarter at North Mississippi Medical Center-Pontotoc.
A graduate of Tupelo High School, Hill joined NMMC-Pontotoc in 2008.
“I would say the most enjoyable thing about my job is helping my coworkers. I don’t care if it’s answering a call light, taking a patient some ice water or simply asking them what I can do to help. I may be an administrative assistant but when you take a look at the bigger picture, I am ultimately here for the patient. There is no I in team but there is one in family and I am blessed to be a part of my family at NMMC-Pontotoc.”
Coworkers complimented Hill on her hard work and willingness to help out in any situation.
“Shameka is always cheerful and willing to help out at the desk, handling patient trays, and answering the call lights,” one coworker wrote in her nomination. “She is often seen giving the unit coordinators a break while working on administrative assistant tasks. She has changed her personal lunch break to accommodate others needing assistance.”
“Shameka is always willing to help patients and visitors presenting at the nurses’ desk,” another coworker wrote. “Shameka has also been observed escorting patients and visitors, rather than just giving directions. She has taken time to make patients feel extra special by doing hair also.”
She and her husband Andrey have been married for 14 years and have two children, 10-year-old Jaden and 10-month-old Elias. The family attends NorthStar Church, where Shameka serves as preschool coordinator.
In her spare time, Hill enjoys reading, DIY projects, sewing, running and spending time with her family.
